Oleśnica belongs to the oldest and most interesting middle size towns. It’s unique nature is defined by architectural monuments, historical – fascinating – achievements of the past generations, Silesian cultural heritage, location and accentuated with high spires panorama. The oldest settlement in the ancient historic times was located by the well know already in antiquity amber trail.
It is located 30 kilometers to the North-West of Wrocław, at the crossing of main communication routes of national and international meaning.
Picturesquely located on the Oleśnica lowlands on the left bank of Oleśnica river, at the foot of Trzebnica Hills, it is an important center of commercial, administrative, cultural and social life in this part of Lower Silesia (Dolny Śląsk).

Oleśnica is located in the North –West part of Lower Silesian Voivodship, at the crossing of main communication routes with national and international meaning (railway connections with Upper Silesia, Wrocław, Prag-Łodź-Warszawa). In town we have the seat of town government, town commune and Oleśnica District. Oleśnica covers 21 square kilometers with almost 40 thousand inhabitants. The town is an important center of commercial, administrative, social and cultural life in this part of Lower Silesia. Oleśnica has an exceptionally interesting and differentiated skyline, one of the most beautiful among the lowland towns. It’s unique nature is defined by architectural monuments, Silesian historical heritage, accentuated with high spires panorama as well as picturesque location on the Olesnica Lowland, at the foot of Trzebnica Hills. To the manifold attractions of this town we can include: unique complex of the Princes Castle, basilica of St. John Apostle, Wrocław Gate Tower, Town Square after renovation, the church of saint Mary and the Golden Wedding Column.
